Osteoarthritis: The most common indication for a total knee replacement is osteoarthritis (oa). Oa is generally referred to as the "wear and tear" type of arthritis that becomes more common as our bodies age. Other types of arthritis that can lead to the need for knee replacement could include: rheumatoid arthritis or post-traumatic arthritis- as a result of previous injury to the knee.
