What causes a "gap" between the two front teeth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many things: The gap between your upper front teeth can be caused by a low frenum, which is the muscle attachment attaching the upper lip to the upper jaw. This fibrous band will keep the teeth apart. The space must be closed first before this attachment is cut or the space will open again. This is due to the scar tissue which forms following the frenectomy procedure.
