Dr. David Kam answered

Adenoids issues: The most common problems related to adenoids in young children are adenoiditis and adenoid hypertrophy. Nasal steroid spray may help to shrink the adenoid. Antibiotic can be used for acute adenoiditis. Adenoidectomy if the symptoms of nasal obstruction and/or purulent runny nose are persistent despite medical treatment.

Adenoids: Depends on cause and severity. For hypertrophy (swelling) due to infection, antibiotics can be helpful. Other causes of hypertrophy often respond to nasal spray steroids. More severe issues or recurrent issues my benefit most from adenoidectomy (removal of adenoid tissue).
