Which tests do doctors use to see if the cancer is actually gone or has responded to the treatment?

What kind of cancer?: If you have breast cancer, you need a mammogram or pet scan. Colon cancer: colonoscopy or ct scan or pet. Lung cancer: chest ct or pet skin cancer: exam by a dermatologist if any of those studies are concerning, they are followed by a biopsy, then by tests to see how far the cancer has spread, then by treatment.
