Hb electrophoresis: Both parents of a child with sickle cell anemia in most instances, but not always should have sickle cell trait. This could be confirmed by a test, 'hemoglobin (hb) electrophoresis'. There is a simple test called 'sickledex' test. But this test does not tell you if you have sickle cell disease or trait. If both parents have trait, each offspring has 25% chance of having a child with disease.
