Do routine blood tests show sickle cell anemia? can a routine blood panel show whether or not a person has sickle cell anemia?

Maybe, but not best: A routine blood test can show sickle cells, but they may not be reviewed that closely. The best test is a special test of the hemoglobin, called hemoglobin electrophoresis. Sickle cellis also screened on all children born in the us. Your pediatrician should have these results.
