Well...: You need to not procrastinate your visit. But, in the meantime, try warm salt water rinses and keep the wound clean. As for the toothache, it depends on the cause. Over the counter pain medications can be used but shouldn't be for more than a week.

Question: If you had an ulcer on the outside of your face and pain in the underlying bone would you put off seeking treatment? Anything you could do yourself will not "cure" your problem, especially the sore and probably abscessed tooth. The longer you wait, the more serious the infection, the more difficult and expensive the possible solutions. Please call dentist now.. Don't wait.
