Supplement D3: Most adults need 5000-8000 iu of vit d/day to achieve optimal levels of vit. D. One can get this from exposure to mid-day sun (without sunscreen) in spring ; summer (if in tropics year-round) or from taking supplemental d3 it is impossible to get anywhere near this amount from diet.
