Get an MRI: Have an MRI done to rule out other causes of hip pain including a labral tear. A plain x ray is not definitive.

Soft tissue problem: Radiograph of hips only demonstrates bone abnormalities. Soft tissue injuries may be strains that improve with rest and time. Mr examination identifies soft tissue detects , edema, tears, ligamentous, muscular, cartiagious and joint abnormalities.
