A member asked:

What do you do when you get a bad pain in your ear? can you squirt lidocaine down into the ear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not a good idea: The reason is that you want to know what the cause is and treat the underlying condition. As you do that the pain will subside and you will know that it has healed. Giving painkillers, Lidocaine in this case will mask the symptom i.e. The pain is a symptom, an alarm that there is a problem we need to take care of. So the best is to get it checked and treated first of all.
