Pancreatitis.: Severe pancreatits leads to necrotic pancreatic tissue which is usually removed by drainage or open surgery..When a patient is in ICU it usually suggests severe pancreatitis.

?: I am not familiar with that procedure in treating pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a very serious disease that is why this person is in icu. You must talk to the attending physician to clarify your query.

Necrotic pancreas...: Can cause sepsis. If in the ICU having surgery for "dead tissue" it sounds as if they have necrotizing pancreatitis, and if so, this is very serious. More importantly, don't come to the internet to get questions like this answered. Ask the doctor(s) caring for your loved one. This is a good place to ask "what is the pancreas". Not a good place to learn about prognosis for any individual.
