Doctor's order...: Typically, you will need a physician's order to have a ct scan performed. The order will indicate what part of the ankle is to be examined, will give a differential diagnosis, and will offer some additional clinical information to help direct the radiologist with their examination of the films.

See below: You will need a referral from your doctor. The scan itself is easy, you just need to lay still while the scan takes place.
