I was put on prozac (fluoxetine) for severe depression, how many years is the recovery usually?

Weeks, not years: You may feel better in a matter of weeks, not years! if this is your first serious depression and treatment goes well, you may be able to stop Prozac (fluoxetine) after 6-12 months. If you've had more than one episode, your doctor will want you to take medicine longer as a precaution. It's possible for depression to last years, but usually not, especially not if treated. Good luck.

Usually wks or mons: Typically a person starts feeling better in a few weeks-- there are treatment resistant depressions that are tougher to control--have your psychiatrist re-evaluate your treatment.
