Can you tell me how common is diverticulitis in kids?

Children: Can have congenital diverticula in various organs. They do not get the typical diverticulitis of the colon that is seen usually in elderly adults, which is an acquired condition.

Never heard of it : I've been an active pediatrician for more than 3 decades and never heard of or seen diverticulitis in kids. Rather than finger-like outgrowths of the large bowel (diverticulae), kids tend to form a reversible, balloon like , over-sized colon in cases of chronic stool retention.
