A member asked:

Is it common to have yellowish brown rectal mucous with diverticulitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes .. but check out: Since diverticulitis is an infection inside the colon, there can be yellow pus and mucus mixed with stool. However, similar discharge can be from inflammatory bowel disease like Crohns, ulcerative colitis, abscesses that drain into the rectum, a growth, or even a cancer. This absolutely needs to be checked by a doctor, and you MAY need a scope to look inside rectum & biopsies. Good luck!
