A member asked:

What is the hiv window period for occupational exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable: The window period is the time from exposure to time a test for HIV becomes positive. The window period depends, in part on the type of test done. Test for HIV nucleic acid is generally positive by three months, usually sooner. Antibody test may take up to a year to turn positive.
