A member asked:

I have a carotid bruit, what should i expect in terms of treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bruit: Sometimes a trivial degree of blockage can lead to a bruit. Sometimes as the blockage gets very severe the bruit, previously heard - disappears so a bruit by itself isn't very helpful or worrisome. If a new bruit is discovered one should simply obtain a carotid duplex scan to determine the true nature of the stenosis if any.
