Absolutely: Profound hearing loss means inability to hear all but the loudest sounds and inability to discriminate sounds. In other words, can't hear, can't understand and can't learn to speak. Your child needs an otologic evaluation and recommendation for hearing restoration, including hearing aids, bone aids or cochlear implants..
