Asthma in infant: In younger children, we don't have a good tool to make a diagnosis of asthma like in older kids or adult. Instead, we base the diagnosis by assessing their risks of developing asthma. Parental history of asthma is a big risk for the kid to have asthma. If your child is diagnosed with asthma, you should bring him or her to see a local allergist or pediatric pulmonologist for better management.

Maybe, maybe not: Some docs use this term loosely and some not so much.I never use it in a 4 month old. All that wheezes in infancy is not asthma, in fact 75% of infant wheezers will quit by school age. If your kid has eczema and one or both parents have it, i might educate the parent that this might be part of the kids future, but i still don't label them at 4m.

Asthma types: Many infants may have transient wheezing a form of asthma that typically will resolve by the time that the are school age. This particular form of asthma is triggered by viral illness. Other forms include those triggered by allergies, and there can be a family history of asthma.
