Can it be possible for doctors to be unsure whether or not a child has hearing problems?

Yes: Depending on the age of your child, there are different causes of hearing loss and different tests that can be done. A standard hearing test may not pick up all types of hearing problems. An ENT specialist, specifically an otologist could be of assistance.
