Treatment option: Depending on the degree of swelling and other factors such as baseline conditions your doctor can prescribe among other treatment option compression stockings. Depending on your symptoms the compression that your doctor would order will vary. However at times due to the degree of swelling a patient at times might get more benefit from a compression bandage.

Compression: Yes, they work but trying to figure this out by yourself may be difficult. There are dozens of companies that make stockings and the quality and reliability of the products vary greatly. Also, putting on too much (strong or tight) compression can result in great harm if your arteries are not normal. See a clinician that can direct you.
