Optic nerves: Come in large, medium and small. Large ones often have large optic cups which look like glaucoma. Testing can easily tell if glaucoma is present.

Enlarged cupping: The site of exit of the optical visual fibers in the back of the eye is termed the optic disc. Enlargement of the structure is termed 'cupping' and this usually also has enlargement of the central pale area. This pattern can be associated with advancing glaucoma but is also sometimes familial. Glaucoma requires a set of findings including elevated pressure, and field changes.
