Why Not Rx?: The natural history of untreated colon cancer can include obstruction, perforation, and/or bleeding; any and all of these can lead to death, typically within years after the cancer first starts to grow. On a systemic level, colon cancer may spread to vital organs such as the liver and lung, which may lead to death over the same time course.

Why?: The answer depends on the type of tumor, stage at which it is present and whether there are metastases. Why wait to see how long you will live? Go get yourself examined properly. If it is early and still left untreated one can live for years or if advanced may only have survival in terms of months. Early diagnosis and treatment is best!

Variable; multiple: It is difficult to predict how long one will live with untreated or treated cancer. If counted from the time of diagnosis, a person could live a few years, depending on the site and type of cancer. A person could die from colon cancer due to obstruction of colon, metastases to other organs, e, g., liver and liver failure, cachexia and infections.
