Doubt it: Even with chemotherapy life expectancy would be less than 5 yeas unless their metastatic lesions were resectable and considered curable, then it could approach a 5 yr life expectancy.

Yes: Some live 10+ years, some do not make it to 1year post-diagnosis. It depends on the nature of the tumor, where it has spread to, how much of it there is and in how many places, and how well it responds to treatment. Some stage 4 cancers can be removed entirely by surgery, but all require some form of chemotherapy for full treatment. Discuss with an experienced surgeon and oncologist!
