Dr. Johanna Fricke answered

Specializes in Pediatrics - Developmental and Behavioral

GDD = significant : delay in 2 or more developmental domains: gross/fine motor, speech/language, cognition, social/adaptive & self-help skills in a child < 5 years. Standard evaluation includes Chromosomal Microarray, DNA Probe for Fragile X, lead levels, hemoglobin & iron stores. Prenatal, perinatal & postnatal history, physical & neurological exams may indicate need for an MRI of the brain & other specific tests.
