Yes: Aspirin is a good medication to relieve pain and inflammation. I would however not recommend chewing it, that is typically reserved for patients having heart attacks. The one thing is that it probably not a good medication to take chronically since it has very high potential for GI upset/bleeding. Other anti-inflammatories more appropriate to take longer are advil/ibuprofen or aleve/naproxyn.
