Why would respiratory rate rise if you have a ruptured spleen and are losing blood?

Compensatory: Ruptured spleen causes significant loss of blood and that causes anemia, that is fall in hemoglobin which carries oxygen to all tissues of the body.As oxygen level drops, lungs try to compensate the lack oxygen by breathing faster that is the reason why respiration rate rises with ruptured spleen.

Oxygen: If you are losing blood you are dying. Your tissues in your brain and other vital organs are not getting enough oxygen and they are demeaning the lungs work overtime to get oxygen to the blood.

Decreased O2 supply: As blood loss continues, patients loose red blood cell mass to carry oxygen. Initially this is compensated for often with an increased heart rate. As blood loss continues and oxygen delivery falls, organs begin to use anaerobic metabolism. As acid levels in the blood rise, patients increase respiratory rate to help normalize ph.
