Yes . However, CDC advises that to be protected from Hep B infection, , it is very important that the baby receive HBIG, hepatitis b immune globulin , at birth , or within 12 hrs . The Hepb vaccine should also be given in three doses , beginning with the first dose within 24 hrs after birth, a second dose 1month later and the third dose at 6 months for the 3 dose vaccine series .
