Get in therapy: You can find a psychotherapist you trust, and who understands self-harm. Work consistently with that therapist on self-understanding, and learning healthier methods of dealing with distress than hurting yourself. Dialectic behavioral therapy is focused and extremely useful. http://tinyurl.com/qccr6no.

Self harm: Self harm, along with behaviors such as using drugs, alcohol gambling etc are coping behaviors-not helpful, but a sign of something else. Often in treating someone who stays in a bad relationship we have to address whatever happened earlier in life, leading to why the person stays in a relationship they know is bad. Hope you can see an experienced Psychologist for therapy
