Inherited in men: Most inborn color blindness is inherited with a frequency of 7.5% of men and 0.5% of women. Most do not know they have it until confronted with a situation in which they can compare their perceptions with others. It is due to an inherited alteration in the peak spectral perception of one of the three color elements of the eye. There is no treatment or cure.
