No: Dexmethylphenidate has a 4-6 hour duration of effect (a long-acting formulation, Focalin XR, which spans 12 hours is also available & has been shown to be as effective. It has also been demonstrated to reduce the symptoms of childhood ADHD,[12] & ADHD in adults.] Typical daily doses of dexmethylphenidate are around 20-40 mg for children & 40–60 mg for adults. A maximum of 80 mg can tolerated.

Dose: i believe that 80mg is too high a dose to be well tolerated and safe. i would not prescribe a dose that high. i would also be surprised that an insurer/medicaid/medicaire would pay for such a large dose.
