A member asked:

How long does focalin (dexmethylphenidate) xr take to get out of your system ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 24 hours: To some degree depends upon the dose you were taking it in our you were dividing it up for the day, but in general if you were taking a once a day dose then it would be expected that would be out of your system in about 24hr according to the data on the Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) xr website. Since it is a medication that is extended release with the second release occurring about 4 to 6 hours afterwords, it's very difficult to speak in terms of elimination half-life per se. The curve on the website shows however that after a single dose of Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) exr it is out of the system at 24 hours.
