Social isolation: Social isolation can be part of depression, and can also worsen it. Depressed people often do not feel like being around other people, leading to isolating themselves. Yet one of the best protections from depression is strong connections with others.

Depression.: It certainly can contribute to becoming depressed. By the same token, social isolation can be a symptom of depression.
