Dextroamphetamine: is rarely used alone any more for ADHD because short- & long-acting Mixed Amphetamine Salts appear to have fewer side effects, less appetite suppression & lower risk for diversion. 15-40 % of a D-AMPH dose is attached to plasma proteins for circulation.. It does not prevent absorption of proteins from the GI tract. Ingesting acidic foods when taking a dose reduces absorption of D-AMPH.
