Arthritic knees: Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) may tide you over until knee replacements are feasible. Meanwhile, pool exercises will help lose weight without stressing knees. Keep weight down to minimize load on knee cartilages. Nsaids can help with pain (if your stomach tolerates them). Doc may inject knees periodically with corticosteroid to help with pain. Some find chondroitin & glucosamine helpful.

Are you sure?: Age 42 is a surprise for this history. You need to have this diagnosis re-evaluated. When you are evaluated your diagnosis will be examined by imaging - x-ray, ultrasound, mri. Your synovial fluid will be evaluated to see if it is inflammatory or non-inflammatory. To answer your question of what can be done for yoru knees? Clarify the exact diagnosis. Degenerative arthritis age 42 can occur but.
