Not exactly: People can experience a wide variety of emotions, but what they do with them matters greatly. For instance, if you're very angry and attacking yourself or others, this can be dangerous and require sedation so that you can be talked with and worked with helpfully. Psychotic symptoms sometimes require sedation because they cause the person great suffering. Sedation is not the end goal, though.
