The deadly cocktail: Painkillers can cause severe liver failure if excessive amounts are used and when combined with chronic alcohol use or other drugs that also impair liver function. So it is best not to mix alcohol with any pain medication..

On top of liver: Damage, they can also lead to overdoses as they both sedate and can lead to compounding effects. Alcohol has been associated with increased chances of overdosing and narcotics and alcohol should not be taken together.
