Yes: This is possible, especially if you are talking about pain medication. Smoking has been proven to heighten pain sensation and your doctor may recognize that as part of your pain drivers. That being said, you two should work together to stop smoking if possible and find other ways to help treat your pain. Otherwise, some patients and physicians do not mesh and you may need to see someone else.
