A member asked:

Got postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. i am getting a brain mri just for completeness nothing specific. will a non-contrast mri be of value?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The non-contrast brain MRI is certainly useful to look for any structural lesions that could be the cause of your symptoms. There are many sequences that they do to look for stroke, white matter disease, mass lesions or CSF abnormalities. The contrasted scan is good for delineating a tumor. These can also be seen on the non-contrasted scans if they are large and special sequences are done.
