Strep vs congestion: Strep is a bacterial infection and is associated with fever greater than 101, regular congestion is a viral associated problem, and has no related fever. Strep can be treated with antibiotics, where a virus is self limiting and will usually last only a day or two. Congestion may also be related to seasonal allergies or the common cold.
