Best to see MD: These jerky movements are hard to evaluate not seeing you and seeing them. They could be myoclonus or other things and cns, spine and peripheral nerves and muscles have to be evaluated. Better see your doctor for that. Good luck.

It's normal: These jerks are normal. Have you ever seen a dog sleeping and dreaming? Those twitching movements happen because our brain shuts off our body so we don't act out our dreams while we sleep. Myoclonic jerks are similar movements that can occur right as you fall asleep. If you're sleep deprived, they are more likely to happen.

Maybe PLMD?: Periodic limb movement disorder, previously known as nocturnal myoclonus, is quite common and folks often have involuntary limb movements occurring at periodic intervals anywhere from 20–40 secs apart. The movements typically occur in the first half of the night during non-rem sleep stages. No movements during rem because of muscle atonia/paralysis. Consult doc for eval and treatment. Good luck.
