A member asked:

What exactly causes one to be sensitive to sound and noise? i used to sleep like a rock but not anymore. been using white noise machines for past yr.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hearing too well: Excessive sensitivity to sound can be an indication of a problem in the sound reception and processing system in your ear and brain. You should consult with an ENT to have an exam and hearing test. Alternately, your problem may have to do with your sleep environment more than your ears. Your ENT can talk to you about this, too, and may refer you to a sleep specialist. Best of luck.
