Could be ...: An abscess from a decayed tooth , is this generalized all over your gums or just on a cesta in location? If that's the case, it's almost always painless .. Have it checked..

Swollen Gums.: Sounds like you have a fistula due to an infection on a tooth. Need to visit a dentist, take an xray and diagnose the problem.
