Physical therapy: The broad central disc protrusion is a radiographic finding and may not be the cause of your back pain. Studies have been done on people of all ages at random and it has been shown that the broad disc protrusion is usually not symptomatic. If there is asymetry so that it compresses the neural foramen on one side, that is different.Still, over 90% improve without surgery.Physical therapy is helpful.
