Oral Discomfort: This is a difficult question to answer without a thorough oral examination. Tongue discomfort may be caused by a myriad of issues. Did you recently eat any very spicy or hot (temperature) foods? Your symptoms may also be caused by herpetic lesions, canker sores, or tongue biting. Please meet with your dentist or an oral surgeon immediately for an oral examination and oral cancer screening!

Oral pain: There has to be a reason, but you will have to be examined to find out what's causing the pain, and from that will flow the appropriate treatment. It may be from an oral bacterial/viral/fungal infection, systemic disorder, food allergy, change in medications/supplements, neurologic disorder, and so many other possibilities. Pease see your Dentist.
