Use monovision contacts. power 1.25 & 2.50. i know someone who uses mono in eyeglasses. i'd like to know if that's an option vs. expensive bifocals.

Yes: It is an option. Not often done though. Some people have double vision when looking down through the glasses (vs. Straight ahead through the optical center).
