A member asked:

Why does infection of the stomach with h.pylori predispose to duodenal ulcers?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acid production : The precise mechanism by which h. Pylori contributes to duodenal ulcer (du) formation is not totally understood, but the bacteria appears to increased gastric acid secretion causing increased acid in duodenun, the bacteria also elicit a body immune inflammatory response and decrease the mucosal defense mechanisms on the duodenun making the mucosa more vulnerable to acid.
