Stool h.pylori test: will show whether h.pylori is currently present or not. Blood tests will indicate if a person has antibodies to h.pylori, but not indicate current infection. Only endoscopy will determine if there is an ulcer, and then direct cultures can be taken as well. Often, symptoms are from esophagitis or gastritis from stomach acid and may respond to treatment with PPI meds.
