Direct infection: Injecting HIV infected blood into your veins is risking direct infection. There are different risk factors associated with the likelihood of acquiring the infection: 1. Is the person who is hiv+ on haart and what is that persons viral load; 2. What is the volume of blood injected. From a needle stick we estimate risk of 0.3% infection. If it is you however, it is 100% risk!
