See definition: Lung cancer is of course a tumor that grows and spreads and kills. Pulmonary fibrosis is the development of scar or thickening of the tissued in between the airways from chronic inflammation and cause the transfer of o2 and/or co2 slower causing sob, low oxygen, high co2. Risks could be the same, the 2nd maybe unknown mostly. This space not enough for full explanation.

Awareness: Pulm fibrosis is associated with an increased risk of pulmonary malignancy. The risk is higher in smokers who have fibrosis. Apparently the scarring from fibrosis can lead to scar carcinoma. Regular radiographuc f/u may be beneficial in finding disease earlier.
